Privacy Policy

VigilDog ("VigilDog", "we", "us", "our") helps digital agencies and professionals keep their web infrastructure healthy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.

01

Introduction and scope

VigilDog is a software-as-a-service platform that continuously monitors web infrastructure, including domain expiry, SSL and TLS certificates, DNS records and DNS drift, and email deliverability through SPF, DKIM, and DMARC. We send alerts before failures happen so that you can act in time. We also offer free single-check tools for SSL, DMARC, DNS, and domain expiry that require no signup, and we produce white-label PDF reports.

This policy applies to our website at https://vigildog.com, our signed-in application, and our free tools. It also covers VigilDog Connectors, a separate product currently in private beta. VigilDog Connectors is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that lets AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT operate advertising platforms with scoped, revocable, and dry-run-by-default permissions.

By using VigilDog, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the service. If anything is unclear, you can reach us at support@vigildog.com.

Information we collect

We collect only the information we need to provide monitoring, send alerts, and run our business. We group this information into the categories below.

  • Account data. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and either your password credentials or a Google account identifier if you choose Google sign-in. We store passwords only in hashed form and never in plain text.
  • Monitored assets, which are public records only. The assets you ask us to monitor consist of domain names and their publicly available records. This includes WHOIS and RDAP data, DNS records, SSL certificate metadata, and email-authentication DNS records such as SPF, DKIM, and DMARC. We do not access private website content, files, or mailboxes.
  • Alert and notification preferences. We store the alert settings and notification choices you configure so that we can contact you the way you want.
  • Usage and analytics. We collect product usage and basic analytics about how the signed-in app is used so that we can improve reliability and features.
  • Support messages. When you contact us for help or send feedback, we keep your messages and any details you include so that we can respond and follow up.
  • Payment metadata. We receive limited billing metadata from our payment provider, Paddle, such as your plan, billing status, and transaction records. We never see or store full card numbers.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and support analytics inside the app. See the cookies and analytics section below.
03

How we use information

We use the information we collect to operate VigilDog and to serve you well. In particular, we use it to:

  • Provide the monitoring service, run checks on the public records of the domains you ask us to watch, and generate reports.
  • Send alerts and notifications about domain expiry, certificates, DNS, and email-authentication issues based on your preferences.
  • Create and manage your account, including sign-in by email and password or by Google.
  • Process billing through Paddle, apply your plan limits, and manage free trials.
  • Respond to your support and feedback messages.
  • Understand product usage so we can improve performance, reliability, and features.
  • Protect the service against abuse, fraud, and security threats, and to comply with our legal obligations.
  • Communicate important service information, such as changes to features, security notices, and updates to this policy.
04

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the product is used so we can make it better.

For product analytics we use Microsoft Clarity, a privacy-friendly analytics tool. Microsoft Clarity runs only inside the signed-in app. We do not run Microsoft Clarity, or any similar product analytics, on our marketing pages. This means our public marketing site is kept light, and analytics are limited to the application experience after you log in.

Most browsers let you control or block cookies through their settings. If you block essential cookies, some parts of the signed-in app may not work as intended.

05

How we share information and our subprocessors

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers that help us run VigilDog, and only as needed to deliver the service. These providers are called subprocessors. Each one handles a specific function described below.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or VigilDog. If VigilDog is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, and we will let affected users know.

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS): cloud infrastructure and compute that power the platform.
  • Neon: managed PostgreSQL database where account and monitoring data are stored.
  • Vercel: hosting and content delivery network for our marketing website.
  • Resend: delivery of transactional and alert emails.
  • Google: OAuth sign-in for users who choose to log in with Google.
  • Paddle: payment processing and billing as our Merchant of Record.
  • Microsoft Clarity: privacy-friendly product analytics, used only inside the signed-in app and never on marketing pages.
06

Payment information

Payments for paid plans are processed by Paddle, which acts as our Merchant of Record and authorized reseller. Paddle handles payment processing as well as sales tax and VAT where applicable.

Because Paddle is the Merchant of Record, your card details are provided to and processed by Paddle, not by us. VigilDog never stores or processes full card numbers. We receive only limited billing metadata, such as your plan, billing status, and transaction records, which we use to manage your subscription.

Our plans, billed monthly in US dollars, are Free at $0 forever with 1 monitored domain plus all free tools, Watchdog at $19 per month for up to 10 domains, Pack at $49 per month for up to 50 domains with white-label reports, and Agency at $149 per month for up to 150 domains. Paid plans include a 14-day free trial, and no card is required to start.

07

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and for as long as we need it to provide the service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

When you delete your account, we permanently delete your account, all monitored assets, and your alert history, as described in the section on your rights below. Some limited records, such as billing metadata held by our payment provider, may be retained where required for legal, tax, or accounting purposes.

Because the assets we monitor consist of publicly available records, we retain only what is needed to run checks, generate alerts, and maintain your monitoring history.

08

Data security

We take the security of your information seriously and apply practical safeguards to protect it. We encrypt data in transit, store account passwords only in hashed form, and apply access controls so that data is reachable only by the systems and people that need it.

We rely on established infrastructure providers, including Amazon Web Services and Neon, to host data securely, and we limit the data we collect to what the service requires.

We are honest about what security can and cannot promise. We do not claim any formal certifications or audits in this policy. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. Monitoring itself is best-effort, and we cannot guarantee that every issue is detected. Reliability is our mission, not a warranty.

09

Your rights

You have meaningful control over the information associated with your account. Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, and delete your personal information.

You can update much of your account information directly in the app. To request a copy of your data, to correct it, or to ask questions about your rights, contact us at support@vigildog.com.

To delete your account, you can use the in-app request account deletion flow in Settings. We confirm the request by email before we act. Once confirmed, we permanently delete your account, all monitored assets, and your alert history. We will respond to rights requests within a reasonable timeframe and in line with applicable law.

10

International data transfers

VigilDog is operated with infrastructure hosted in the United States. If you access the service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and in the regions used by the subprocessors listed above.

Data protection laws in these locations may differ from those in your country. By using VigilDog, you understand that your information may be processed in the United States and elsewhere as needed to deliver the service. We take steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with this policy wherever it is processed.

11

Children

VigilDog is built for digital agencies and professionals. The service is not directed to children, and it is not intended for anyone under the age of 16, or under 18 where that is the age of majority in your location.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@vigildog.com so we can take appropriate action, including deleting the information.

12

Third-party links

Our website, application, and reports may contain links to third-party websites and services that we do not operate or control. This policy does not apply to those third parties.

When you follow a link to an external site, we encourage you to review that site's own privacy policy. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of third-party websites and services.

13

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our service, our subprocessors, or the law. When we make changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.

If the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice, which may include emailing the address associated with your account. Your continued use of VigilDog after an update means you accept the revised policy.

14
